Thank you, I am glad to hear you enjoy my efforts.By your question, I’m assuming you mean an “ugly” model? I often work with grotesque imagery, making a friend or myself look horrendous, i.e. demon or zombie…At this point, I almost exclusively photograph friends or colleagues…I once used tried photographing a very young fashion model from an agency, but I felt that it flattened my images; the model’s pristine beauty dominated the content. At this point, knowing someone is usually an integral process to making a photograph anyway, but being attractive is certainly not a requirement. All types of visual information interest me, and ugly is a highly relative term. I find a lot of beauty in imperfection; I spent several years making rubble and garbage in abandoned buildings into sculptures.
